Your River Shuttle
Every home includes a personal electric vehicle to get you to the water without breaking a sweat.
It's your day off after three 12-hour shifts. The Mississippi sun is already blazing at 10 AM. You've packed a cooler with sandwiches and sweet tea, grabbed your fishing rod, and your golden retriever is wagging at the door. The river is calling.
But the waterfront is a thousand feet away. In this heat? That's a sweaty walk hauling all your stuff.
Instead, you step outside to your personal river shuttle. Load up the cooler, help the dog into the covered back seat, and putt quietly down the shaded path. Three minutes later, you're at the water's edge—cool, relaxed, and ready to enjoy your hard-earned day off.
That's the Nurses Oasis difference.
What's Included With Your Home
Each Nurses Oasis residence comes with access to an electric personal transport vehicle—known internationally as a "tuk-tuk." Think of it as a covered golf cart designed for carrying passengers and cargo.
Personal Vehicle
Your own electric shuttle for getting to the river, the pavilion, or anywhere on property.
Weather Protected
Full canopy roof and windshield. Stay cool in summer, dry when it rains.
Bring Friends
Room for 3-4 passengers. Take your kids, your guests, or the whole book club.
Pet Friendly
Open sides mean your dog can enjoy the breeze. They'll hear you grab the keys and come running.
Haul Your Gear
Coolers, fishing rods, picnic baskets, kayak paddles—the rear bench folds for cargo.
Easy to Charge
Plug into any outlet overnight. No gas, no oil changes, minimal maintenance.
These vehicles are speed-limited to about 10-15 mph—a brisk jog. At that speed, even a mishap is a minor inconvenience, not an emergency room visit. This isn't transportation to get somewhere fast. It's transportation to enjoy getting there.
No driver's license required for on-property use. If you can steer and press a pedal, you can operate it.
If you've traveled to Thailand, India, or much of the developing world, you've seen tuk-tuks everywhere—the zippy three-wheeled vehicles that weave through traffic carrying passengers and cargo. The name comes from the "tuk-tuk-tuk" sound the old gasoline engines made.
Our electric versions are nearly silent. No engine noise, no exhaust, no gas smell. Just a quiet hum as you roll down the path to the river.
How Is It Different From a Golf Cart?
Golf carts were designed for one thing: moving golfers around manicured courses. Tuk-tuks were designed for real transportation—carrying families, hauling groceries, navigating city streets. They have:
- Full roof and windshield (standard, not optional)
- Rear bench seating for multiple passengers
- Cargo space when the bench folds down
- Designed for daily use, not just recreation
Charging
Plug it into any standard 110V outlet at your home. A full charge takes about 6-8 hours (overnight). One charge gets you 25-35 miles of range—enough for dozens of trips to the river and back.
Insurance
Most homeowner's insurance policies can add a rider for low-speed vehicles—similar to insuring a riding lawn mower. Since these are speed-limited and used only on private property, coverage is straightforward.
Maintenance
Electric vehicles have far fewer moving parts than gas vehicles. Expect:
- Battery replacement every 3-5 years (lead-acid) or 7-10 years (lithium)
- Tire replacement as needed
- Brake inspection annually
- That's about it
Where Can I Use It?
Anywhere within the Nurses Oasis property—your home to the river, to the pavilion, to visit neighbors, to the community garden. These are not street-legal for public roads, so please don't try to drive to Walmart. They're your waterfront shuttle, not your commuter car.
You work hard. You deserve to enjoy your time off without sweating through a walk in 95-degree heat just to reach the river you're paying to live near. The river shuttle makes the waterfront actually accessible—not just technically reachable, but effortlessly enjoyable.
Load up. Roll out. Unwind.
